Propane is a gas that is compressible to a portable liquid which is normally used as a fuel for portable stoves, engines, residential central heating, oxy gas torches, and barbecues. Propane was first specified as a changeable component in gasoline in 1910.
By 1950, Chicago Transit Authority had ordered 1,000 propane fueled buses, and by the year 1958, propane that was being used annually in the United States alone had reached 7 billion gallons. More and more people started using it as a method to grill their beef in their outdoor events. The propane business was reported to be a $10 billion industry in 2004, with more than 15 billion gallons of propane being used annually for domestic use in the United States.
Like everything else, propane has it's own share of pros and cons. Cons being the availability, you can't walk up to a regular gas station to fill up your propane tank. And the smell is terrible. The fuel mileage is a bit worse, a gallon of propane may be equal to 9/10th of 1 gallon of gas, let alone propane compels about 74% of the power of gasoline.
While the pros far excceed the cons. A propane engine can run on virtually any given angle. Propane systems are very easy to install, and requires very minimal maintenance. Fuel will not spill out in a rollover, it is a very safe sealed system. It burns much cleaner than regular gasonline, the list is almost enless. Nowadays more and more people are using propane for their picnics and back yard parties to grill those baby barbecue ribs.
Propane comes in many portable sizes, making it easy to carry. you can use propane to host a big event at a place of your choosing. And it is very easy to store. Once your are done with your parties, just replace the cap. and you are all set. If you keep the cap tightly closed the propane will not escape, so you can use it at your next picnic or hide out, you do not need to spend more money to purchase another propane tank. So save your hard earned money.
